"In the fight for trans rights we are the most effective weapon. We don’t need an arsenal. We simply need to listen." - Lauren Ebanks. (2015) Unchained.
On the 28th December 2014, a girl named Leelah Alcorn stepped in front of a truck and ended her life. Leelah’s death sparked a world-wide debate about transgender suicide and the treatment of non-binary people. This is what inspired this performance: Unchained, a discussion of trans misconceptions and stereotypes.
We wanted our performance to not only start a discussion within our community, but to benefit the lives of trans people all over the UK. This is why the majority of the proceeds raised by the performance will be donated to Mermaids: a UK charity supporting young trans peopleand their families.
Thank you for allowing us to support this amazing cause and opening your heart to the words of transgender youth.
The performance will be on the 21st March 2015 at 5pm in the University of Worcester Drama Studio.
